Community’s youth ministry is designed to encourage and support students in grades 6 through 12 to grow in their personal relationships with Jesus Christ and to grow in community with one another. Youth have regular opportunities for Sunday morning classes and for Sunday evening group activities in addition to occasional mission and service opportunities. Friends are always welcome. Every Sunday morning at 9:45 our Middle School (grades 6-8; room 505) and Senior High (9-12; room 506) groups meet to discuss, laugh, question, learn and grow. You’ll also typically find a number of youth gathered near the fireplace in the Welcome Center before Sunday school begins.
Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. is a time of fun, friendship, fellowship, and learning to follow Jesus Christ for youth grades 6-12. We enjoy dinner together, play some games, hang out with friends, and share and learn in small groups. We also have opportunities to serve others, both in Columbia and beyond. We invite all youth to participate in the activities to build community with each other while developing your relationship with Jesus Christ.
We also have a youth praise band that rehearses on Sunday afternoons at 4:30 before the regular evening Youth activities. The praise band is an opportunity to learn about worship and leading in worship to help others connect to God. The band leads a worship time during some of our regular Sunday evenings.
We hope to see you at these activities - and bring a friend!
Community Youth is a growing and energetic ministry with lots of activities and lots of opportunities for you to help. First, you can pray for our students as they navigate the challenges of middle school and high school along with sorting out their personal Christian journey. You can volunteer time to help with Youth activities or to be a small group or Sunday school leader. You can also support the ministries and activities of the Youth — whether ice skating, bowling, movies, or mission trips — by making financial contributions to help minimize the cost and allow all students to participate. You can make donations by denoting “CUMC Youth” on your gift to the church.
