New Initiatives Serving At-Risk Children and Youth

Our newest initiatives include:
Sleep in Heavenly Peace—building beds for children in need,
Foster care support and advocacy—partnering with agencies to support foster children and families,
Food for Thought—partnering with West Boulevard Elementary School by supplying snacks and volunteers.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Community UMC has formed a local chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. SHP exists to organize bed-build days for volunteers to construct and deliver beds to children in need of a safe place to sleep. Your gifts of time and money stay in our community and serve kiddos right here. To donate, volunteer for a bed build day, or apply for a bed, click here!

Tags of Hope

Tags of Hope serves Mid-Missouri foster children and their families by offering a unique clothing closet and fulfillment of basic needs. New and gently used clothing, shoes, books, toys, and other household items are gifted to foster families who "shop" at the boutique. This uplifting experience empowers children and teens to select items they love that fit their individual style, size, and personal needs while being supported in a bright setting that focuses on genuine  connection.

Tags of Hope is a member of a nationwide network, CarePortal, that connects local Children's Division caseworkers with local faith-based communities to help meet the basic needs of youth in foster care. We support this network by fulfilling requests on a case-by-case basis. Our volunteers have the opportunity to directly impact families in need by delivering items to them, sharing the good news of the community, and extending an open invitation to join us in worship!
